Atago Shrine is a Shinto shrine built in 1603 by the first shogun of the Tokugawa Era, Tokugawa Ieyasu, in order to protect the community from fire. It is located on top of Atago Mountain which was famous for fine views.

The temple was built in 1393 and moved to its present location in 1598 by Tokugawa Ieyasu who selected it as his family temple. It is attractive to see the Tower standing over such an old temple.
The temple built in 1679 enshrines the gods of fishing, fertility, industry and warding off calamities.
