Art Works

The Kumiko Art by Shigemitsu Kotaka
Location: 51st Andaz Lounge

Kumiko art is delicate technique of assembling wooden pieces without nails. Thinly slit wooden pieces are assembled and joined one by one by hand.

Washi Arts by Tetsuya Nagata
Location: Elevators

These arts are created by layering used to create Japanese sweets. One of the motifs is Tai fish which resonates as “celebration” in Japan. The piece welcomes guests into the elevator, offering our guests to come and celebrate at Andaz Tokyo.

The Wooden Sculptures "Birds in the Forest" by Charlie Whinney
Location: 51st Andaz Tavern

Manipulating timber into stunningly complex geometric forms, the undulating wood creates a rhythm in the air, a memory in the space. The work blurs the boundaries between fine art, architecture and design, connecting spaces in the Andaz Tavern and brings the essence of the forest into a man-made environment.
